This watch was a customized version of the DW-6900 model and featured specialty Stussy highlights such as an SS-Link logo when illuminated, “Stussy GShock Limited Edition” engraving on the back and “Stussy Limited Edition” writing on the GShock band. This GShock watch was released in extremely limited quantities and is nearly impossible to find today. It is a coveted piece in any watch collector’s Stussy x GShock collection.
The second Stussy x Casio GShock watch was released in 2005 in conjunction with Stussy’s XXV 25th anniversary. This watch was made in Japan on the classic DW-6900 frame with standard stainless steel back and water resistant 20Bar function. The updates on this specialty watch include StuXXV logo when illuminated, “Stussy GShock Limited Edition” script on the back, “Stussy 25th Anniversary” script on the band and custom gold trim on the buttons, buckle, functions and back.
The third Stussy x Casio GShock watch released in 2008 as part of G-Shock’s 25th anniversary celebration. This watch was built on the DW-5000ST frame with stainless steel back and water resistant 20Bar. The Stussy updates include “Stussy GShock Limited Edition” engraving on back, Stussy vintage graphics on the face, SS-Link logo when illuminated and “New York, London, Tokyo, Los Angeles” on the band.
The fourth Stussy x Casio GShock watch was part of Stussy’s massive 30th anniversary XXX collection. Stussy and Casio again used the DW-6900 style but went over the top on the updates including Stussy stock logo when illuminated, “Stussy GShock Limited Edition” script on the back, “Stussy 30 Anniversary” script on the band and Stussy XXX blue highlights on the face, buttons, buckle and back. Standard GShock functions include 1/100 seconds stopwatch, full automatic calendar and multiple alarm settings.
The limited edition Stussy x Casio GShock G-001 “Jason” watch is an updated version of the classic DW-001 “Jason” model that was first released in 1994. This modern take features 100% resin case/bezel, 100% mineral glass face and 100% resin band with metal mesh inserts. Functions include digital timekeeping (world time, alarm, calendar, stop watch), shock resistant, 20Bar water resistant and EL illumination with lithium battery. Stussy highlights consist of Stussy logo on the face, SS Link logo when illuminated, Stussy “Limited Edition” script on the back, Stussy “BUILT FOR THE LONG HAUL…” script on the Gshock band all wrapped up in a custom metal case with box.
The G-Shock watch was first designed by Kikuo Ibe for Casio and released in 1983. The watches steadily grew in popularity until 1998 when over 19 million G-Shock watches had been sold around the entire world. This incredible sale rate is due not only to their tough nature but also their durability. For example the Cockpit Series is the official timekeeper of Nismo racing.
Incorporating features from the early vintage G-Shock watches, such as its rugged durability, shock resistance, highly accurate stopwatch, countdown timer, and water resistance, as well as with features available on newer G-Shocks, such as atomic clock synchronization and Tough Solar function, Casio has elevated Gshock watches to a new level of functionality that has made the G-Shock the choice among adventurers.
G-Shock. The name stands alone. It represents Casio’s mission to design the ultimate watch for those who refuse to observe life from the sidelines. A perfect fusion of form and function, the GShock watch timepiece stands up to the abuses of everyday life, whether the wearer is engaged as a sportsman or a warrior, while demonstrating iconic style that will have the owner choosing to wear it even on less demanding days.
Over the years, very few watches have fully said “shock absorbent” like the Casio designed G-Shock. These watches were designed to take the hard hits of life. Not forgetting that the watch must reflect the personal style and signature of the wearer, Casio has partnered with Stussy to offer a limited edition series of G-Shock watches that are every bit as stylish as they are functional. The new limited edition Stussy x GShock watches is just another step in the long and storied history of these impressive watches.
