If surfing had a mecca, the north shore of O’ahu would sit atop of that list. Surfers from around the world make a pilgrimage to the north shore during the winter months (October – April) just to ride the near perfect big waves. Although the waves this past week weren’t big enough to hold the big surf contest, there was still a high surf advisory in effect at all beaches on the north side of the island. The waves on the north shore is quite a sight and highly recommended to check out if you’re on the island this time of the year. Don’t forget to enjoy some ono garlic shrimp from Giovanni’s or a post-surf shave ice from Matsumoto’s if you decide to trek it out to the north shore. Remember to listen to all the signs posted up along the beach, respect the locals, but most importantly, enjoy the vibes!
